To ensure that your website is doing the best job possible and presenting your information, telling your story, and working as a conversion machine to turn traffic into buyers, here are a few things that you should keep in mind:
Make Sure It Looks Great
Aesthetics are important, more now than ever. In the past websites were able to get away with low quality graphics, flashing banners, and other unappealing visual aspects simply because the internet was new and people did not know what to expect. Today that is no longer true. People expect a website that looks great and functions even better.
If you don’t have a website yet and plan on having one made or simply need a redesign, make sure that your website:
- Isn’t full of flashy banners and ads - stay away from distracting animations.
- Looks just as good on mobile devices as it does laptops or desktop computers.
- Loads quickly.
- Has easy, intuitive navigation.
- Is easy to read for everyone, with large enough fonts and enough contrast.
Keep Your Website Up To Date
The internet is constantly evolving. As the mobile market continues to grow and hardware and software become capable of more powerful operations, the way a website works changes as well. Making sure that your website is up to date for the latest browsers, computers, phones, and tablets is very important.
Out of date websites run slower which can lead to traffic hitting the back button and finding someone else’s website, but it can also hurt you in the search results as well. Google has hundreds of search metrics that it uses to rank a website, and one of these is up to date code and a fast running website.
On-Site Search Engine Optimisation Is Crucial
Search engine optimisation is the process of outranking your competition for specific keywords, and the process all begins on your website with something called on-site optimisation. This process is simple: it’s about streamlining your code to run as quickly and efficiently as possible and optimising titles and headlines within your webpage, creating meta data (including page descriptions) for all of your pages and products, and providing Google with the information it needs to figure out what your website is about.
Keep Adding Quality Content
In the previous articles we have discussed the importance of quality, relevant content but the significance simply cannot be overlooked. Businesses that post 3 articles per week consistently generate more leads than websites that do not add content at all. The key is to make sure that your content is unique, and it provides real benefit for your reader.
By building trust and rapport with your readers you will establish yourself as a local authority, build a stronger brand, and become a leader in your field. Combined together, all of that results in more traffic and a higher conversion rate for your business.
